Wrapping Paper Blues

Pumpkin pie and gobbler gone
Time grew a pair of wings
City boy with sappy hands
The annual Paul Bunyan thing

Tree stand in the attic
With decorations galore
Right next to last year’s promise
Not to do this season
Last minute anymore

To and from the traffic crawl
Inside they push and shove
No thank you shopping malls
I go somewhere different
For the ones I love

Christmas Eve is over
I got the wrapping paper blues
Each corner fold botched
Oh no, I am out of scotch
Duct tape and beer will have to do

  1. hehehe I am terrible at wrapping and always run out of tape. Who is Paul Bunyan??? I should Google it LOL

  2. Ah a lumberjack figure of North American folklore and tradition.

  3. Bah ha ha ha! That's a good one!

I put up all my outside lights weeks ago when it was still slightly over frozen digit temps. Went to turn them on for my holiday party yesterday and some critter chewed through the light strings!!! Bah humbug!

  4. Poor Glenn, got the blues? Oh the wrapping paper blues, easily cured. Bag it!

  5. Love it!! Duct tape is miraculous stuff!! A definite must in your "survival kit"!!
Really love your Christmas poems!! Always anxiously awaiting the next one!
